The airlines allows carry-on and check-in bags to be carried on board its planes. There are some restricted items which cannot be taken either in check in or in cabin luggage. Business class passengers are allowed up to 2 bags of maximum 8 kg each and dimensions 55cm × 40 cm × 23 cm. Apart from the cabin luggage, a personal item of size 40 cm × 30 cm × 10 cm is allowed. This personal item can be handbag, laptop or shoulder bag.
The check in baggage allowance is also provided by the airline. It divides routes into two: European and Intercontinental for this purpose. The free allowance depends on cabin class ticket booked and membership status of the passenger.
There is no free allowance for Economy Light Passengers on both these routes. Economy Classic and Flex tickets allowed 1 bag of 23 kg each for flying on European or Intercontinental routes. Adults and Children flying on business class European and Intercontinental routes are allowed 2 bags of 32 kg each.
There are higher allowances for frequent flyers of airline and for HON Circle, Senator and STAR Gold passengers.
Excess baggage charges are levied for oversized, overweight and more number of baggage.
Austrian provides the facility of check-in in different ways. Besides the airport check in, there is online and mobile app check-in facility. These methods allow for convenient and flexible check-in process to get the boarding pass before boarding the flight.
